Directions: Complete Step 1 by using the table and subsequent space below identify and analyze the research article you have selected. Complete Step 2 by summarizing in 2-3 paragraphs the results of your analysis using the space identified.Current Evidence-Based Practice for Pediatric Emergence.

Step 1: Research Analysis
Complete the table below
Topic of Interest:
Research Article: Include full citation in APA format, as well as link or search details (such as DOI)
Professional Practice Use:
One or more professional practice uses of the theories/concepts presented in the article
Research Analysis Matrix
Add more rows if necessary Strengths of the Research Limitations of the Research Relevancy to Topic of Interest Notes

Step 2: Summary of Analysis
Craft a summary (2-3 paragraph) below that includes the following:
• Describe your approach to identifying and analyzing peer-reviewed research
• Identify at least two strategies that you would use that you found to be effective in finding peer-reviewed research
• Identify at least one resource you intend to use in the future to find peer-reviewed research

Professional Practice Use:

The theory in the study is therapeutic relationship theory. The theory was used due to its focus between patient and nurse interaction. In this concept, the distressed patient has an unmet need (Kim et al, 2018). The nurse’ function is to find out and meet the immediate needs of the patient. The patient’s behavior invokes an instant response from the nurse. This will directly aid the patient to relieve their suffering. However, the theory does not put into consideration other factors of the environment in the exchange process.Current Evidence-Based Practice for Pediatric Emergence.

Research Analysis Matrix
Strengths of the Research Limitations of the Research Relevance to Topic of Interest Notes
There are no marked dissimilarities in the demographic variables.
There is no mention of scale reliability used to measure emergence agitation.
A pediatric anesthesia emergence delirium scale could have been used to describe and assess the emergence agitation severity.
pediatric anesthesia emergence delirium scale is an observational tool that includes a 20 point scale.
The research study puts emphasis on the multifactorial postoperative agitation etiology. It also offers insight to treatments and sources.
Treatment efficacy seems difficult to determine with various treatments.

Effective treatment comprises ketamine, fentanyl, infusion of propofol or a bolus at the completion of anesthesia. The treatment also comprises dexmedetomidine.
There is a need for additional study using examination with an approved delirium scale for the clarification of anesthetics’ contribution to emergence agitation during a pain-free surgical procedure.
Reduced inconsistencies since the research only focused on a single age group
Could not determine emergence agitation on other age groups. Potential efforts of research should center on the results’ generalizability between various age groups. Of specific significance is to determine whether the pediatric studies’ results can be implemented to the adult populace.
This information is important since it is more pronounced given that the vast Emergence Agitation or delirium research is centered on the pediatric populace.

Step 2: Summary of Analysis
Describe your approach to identifying and analyzing peer-reviewed research
Searching for clues that will indicate the author is a scholar researcher will first be involved. Factors such as advanced degrees like Ph.D and the author’s affiliation will be examined if the article is scholarly. The intended audience and what the article is about is a critical factor. The definition of the scope and topic in regards to a theoretical or technical focus centered on either professional practice or is simply general and broad will be assessed.Current Evidence-Based Practice for Pediatric Emergence. It will also be important to examine the article structure such as the formatting, length and the headings. For instance, a clear structure indicates a scientific research study. The less structured a paper is the lesser the likelihood for it to be a scholarly paper. Another important aspect to identify a peer-reviewed research is how the paper has been written. This includes the tone, language, and the article’s viewpoint. Lastly, the type of publication will be assessed by searching for clues that discloses if the article is published inside a scholarly journal.Current Evidence-Based Practice for Pediatric Emergence.
Two effective strategies that will be used in finding the peer-reviewed research
One of the strategies that will be used includes phrase search which involves using double quotes around a phrase for the words to be clipped together. Another strategy is truncation that cuts words and looks for alternate word endings.
One resource you intend to use in the future to find peer-reviewed research
Medline with full text through EBSCO is the resource that will be used.
