As part of the evidence-based practice change process you are to evaluate the effectiveness of the change. You have already identified the appropriate measures for your specific project. It is time to consider how you will analyze, interpret, and present the data in the written capstone. Project Title: Providing Education to pregnant and postpartum women over the age of 18 years old. Then, share what data and analysis you plan to use and how you plan to present this information for your project in the written capstone. 2.)Please think about your benchmark in relationship to the outcome you are measuring. If you are using a benchmark for mean group score, then you do not need a t-test and report the significance. The analysis will make use of t-test as the statistical test in which the hypothesis will be test that post-test performance is better than pre-test performance with the patient education acting as the modifying variable. To be more precise, an unmatched (independent) t-test will be conducted since the pre-test and post-test periods are independent since the results of either period does not tell us anything about the other period. The average knowledge level in the pre-test period does not tell us anything about the average knowledge level in the post-test period. The focus will be on whether there are any differences between the pre-test and post-test periods with the intention being to test if the post-test participants are more knowledge than the pre-test participants for the same population. The test uses means/averages and compares figures to ascertain whether they are equal. The t-test is appropriate since the intention of the project is to compare means with the expectation that post-test will have better performance than pre-test (Warner, 2013). Besides that, the means are good measures for the pre-test and post-test periods since small sample of 50 participants is used. The test is focused on the difference between the pre-test and post-test samples with the variances being unknown. Also, the collected sample data meets the five assumptions necessary for a t-test. The first assumption is that the scale of measures follows ordinal and continuous scale. The second assumption is that a simple random sample was collected as a representative of the whole population. The fourth assumption is that the data will present as normal distribution (bell-shaped distribution curve) when plotted with the level of probability specified at 5% value (level of significance or alpha level) as the criterion for acceptance. The final assumption is that there is homogeneity of variance such that standard deviations and variance is equal for the pre-test and post-test periods (Verma & Abdel-Salam, 2019). In this respect, independent t-test is appropriate for the present case.

1.) Outcome(s) – The project intends to provide patient education to pregnant women who are older than 18 years of age. 50 participants will be recruited for the project. The project outcome is to reduce the burden of post-partum depression (PPD) through increasing PPD knowledge levels and enabling women to recognize the associated symptoms early on and seek the appropriate help to manage the condition.

2.) Benchmark – Performance will be compared in the same facility to improve control of extraneous/confounding variables while ensuring that the results are applicable to the patient population. A benchmark of 85% was set to account for the different social backgrounds (PPD is a mental condition that some patients intentionally avoid mentioning because of the associated social stigma) and empowerment levels (empowered patients have better control of their health and tend NOT to ignore health concerns). 3.) Measure – Primary data will be collected through a structured survey that makes use of standardized questionnaire.

4.) Predicted result(s) – The post-test participants will report better results than the pre-test participants in terms of PPD knowledge levels and disease burden. It is assumed that the patient education will make the patients more aware of PPD and thus better able to handle incidences.

5.) Evaluation of the result in relation to the benchmark – A benchmark of 85% was set such that results equalling or exceeding 85% will imply that the benchmark has been met while results below 85% will imply that the benchmark has not been met.
